About my Expertise

I’ve been building boards since 1972. During the 2-line kite days, in 2000 I built my first kiteboard using new materials.

It wasn’t until about 10 years later that I was able to fully start kitesurfing. I developed my own style that I call “power swooping.”

Instead of just holding onto the bar during transitions, I pull directly on the steering lines. This can generate a tremendous burst of power when swooping the kite into the “power-zone.”

For this reason, I invented and developed “stance-specific boards” that change trim as you switch rails. This allows you to carve hard without losing your edge.

We all turn differently on our toe-side rail from our heel-side rails. And when you are using foot-straps you can’t move your feet.

Asymmetrical Power Swoop boards are like when you compare shoes to symmetrical bathroom slippers - and you wouldn’t play basketball or dance in those - so why limit your ability by riding a symmetrical board design?
